Moggio Udinese lies at 341 meters above sea level and is surrounded by the high peaks of the Julian Alps and the Carnic Alps. The foundation of the village dates back to Roman times. Attractions include the Abbey of San Gallo and the palace with dungeons and medieval tower in Moggio di Sopra. In the northwestern hinterland of Moggio Udinese in the middle of the Carnic Alps are the three mountain villages Moggessa di Quà, Moggessa di Là and Stavoli, all of which are car-free to this day. Since there are no access roads, the old system of mule tracks is still in use. Particularly attractive are the narrow streets of the villages, where the farmhouses concentrate in a small space. Also the nature reserve Riserva Natural Val Alba has its charm. Nature lovers will get their money's worth in the region.

Moggio Udinese (furlanisch Mueç, German Mosach / Mosnitz [2], Slovenian Možac [3] [4] / Možnicia [5]) is a municipality with 1703 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2017) in the northern Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Moggio Udinese is located on the A23 motorway and the railway line Villach-Udine (Pontebbana).
