Ostuni, the White City of Salento, is located in the province of Brindisi at more than 200 meters above sea level, on the last offshoots of the Murgia area.

This white jewel of Puglia is one of the most famous places in Salento together with Santa Maria di Leuca, Otranto and Taranto.

Ostuni, as it is easy to imagine, owes its name White City to the color of most of the houses in the city, especially in the historic center. In reality, the reason why the pure white color was chosen is not as poetic as observing this small pearl of Salento from afar. In fact, in the past the city of Ostuni was hit several times by the plague and covering the walls with lime made it possible to sanitize the area and make it aseptic.
