The cemetery on the Königszeile has been a listed building since 1960. It is locked, but still visible from the street. In the meantime, around 500 tombstones have survived, the oldest of which dates from 1676. In front of the old Jewish cemetery in Wandsbek there is a memorial stone for Simon S. Bamberger, who was rabbi of the Israelite community of Wandsbek from 1902 to 1938.

The Jewish cemetery on Königszeile existed from 1637 to 1884 and was one of the smallest Jewish cemeteries in the Hamburg area. The Schleswig-Holstein government closed the cemetery in 1884 because it was full. By then, around 1,200 funerals had taken place there.
During the Nazi regime, the cemetery was desecrated several times and had to be forcibly sold in 1942. The cemetery was increasingly destroyed by bomb damage, and parts of the complex were also stolen in order to obtain wood and stones for heating and as building materials. It was not until 1960 that the cemetery was placed under monument protection. Around 850 gravestones are still preserved today.
A memorial stone commemorates Wandsbek's last rabbi, Doctor Simon Bamberger (1872–1961), who took over the office in Wandsbek in 1902. Bamberger was highly respected by representatives of the Christian religions, notables and the citizens of Wandsbek. Nevertheless, from 1930 onwards he had to suffer from anti-Semitic slogans and restrictions. On October 10, 1938 he conducted the last service in the Wandsbeker synagogue. At the beginning of 1939 he and his wife managed to escape to Palestine. On Dotzauer Weg, a memorial stone commemorates the former Wandsbeker synagogue.
