This beautiful Evangelical Lutheran chapel was built in the Gothic style of brick in the 15th century and rebuilt in the 17th century after falling into disrepair. Services are held here every second and fourth Sunday of the month.

The chapel in the district of Vreschen-Bokel in the municipality of Apen in the Lower Saxony district of Ammerland belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Apen, which uses it regularly for Sunday services. The free-standing bell tower, which was built in 1858 to replace a wooden tower from 1718, also serves as the gatehouse of the associated cemetery.

The Gothic brick chapel was built in 1456 but fell into disrepair in the 16th century. From 1623 it was restored and received larger windows. Much of the outer brick layer has been renewed, as has the interior, which largely dates from the 17th and 18th centuries.

The organ has been available since 1956.

The small chapel was built on a mound in 1456 and for a long time was the only prayer house in Apens, along with St. Nikolai Church. After the Reformation it fell into disrepair and was restored under Count Anton Günther. Most of their furnishings date from the Baroque period. The organ was not installed until the 20th century. As is usual for the region, the bell tower is freestanding. The stone building from 1858 replaced a previous wooden building from the early 18th century.
