The Stadtmuseum Norderstedt is certified as an extracurricular educational institution for sustainable development. It is located right next to the fire department museum.
In special exhibitions with accompanying events, topics from all areas of life are conveyed in a target group-oriented and varied manner. The permanent exhibition shows the natural conditions of the historical moor and heath landscape as well as historical ways of life in the four original communities of Friedrichsgabe, Garstedt, Glashütte and Harksheide, from which Norderstedt emerged in 1970. In addition, the City Museum participates, for example, in the educational programs “Class in the Green” and the Norderstedter Holiday Pass as well as the Intercultural Week and the Segeberg Culture Days.
