    The Ballon de Servance belongs to the Vosges mountains and rises to 1216 meters above sea level.

    The highest point in the Haute-Saône department, the Ballon de Servance is partly requisitioned by the army but the summit is accessible to the public.

    Access roads partially close in winter because the road is not cleared of snow.

      For driving up I can recommend the southern route, but unfortunately I drove this only down. The way to go downhill is a little too violent, very narrow, poorly visible, jagged. In addition, you could better enjoy the landscape uphill! In fact, the mountain is very (!) Low traffic. On top of the mountain is a radio tower of the French army and restricted area.

        The Ballon de Servance is much less known than the other "balloons" of the Vosges. A very beautiful ascent in the middle of lonely nature on a narrow, paved road with very little traffic.

              Very nice climb as an alternative to the more famous mountains in the area. To combine well with Planche des Belles Filles, as with the Tour de France 2019. Very woody and therefore also suitable in summer. Road, however, mediocre good.

                Very nice pass from Plancher les Mines and descent to the Col des Croix. Very few cars on this side.
                Between 3km and 2km from the finish, an 11% average portion not easy to manage.
                To combine with the Super Planche des Belles Filles for the most informed 😉

                    With the Tour de France 2019 and probably 2020 this mountain has now gained a lot in popularity. It was used twice to get to the Planches-des-belles-filles. A really nice pass with little traffic, which enables the drive to the south and north (there also Moselle source and Route des cretes).

                      This undoubtedly most unknown of all the balloons in the Vosges is located at 1,216 meters. The journey goes through a quiet mountain landscape on unfortunately not perfect asphalt. To do this, you hardly have to share the road with any other car.

                        The ascent from Plancher-les Mines is beautiful, on the descent to Château Lambert hold the handlebars very tight, there is sometimes grit in the curves. But I didn't see a single car. Lets go…
