From Uccea it is a 10 km long climb, but without major difficulties (average gradient 5/6%) passing through the heart of the Julian Prealps park. The real challenge is to face it from the Resia torrent, a 7 km HC climb at an average gradient of 10/12% between hairpin bends and a fairly bumpy bottom at certain points, all immersed in an environment of great value and beauty. The same downhill road is very technical and demanding and must be done with the utmost caution due to the presence of grids and many holes, as well as numerous hairpin bends that do not admit errors. [May 2020: the Uccea - Sella Carnizza section IS CLOSED for works so it would not be passable, there are large potholes, work vehicles and the bottom is full of stones. 2 barriers to "get around" as the road, I repeat, is closed]. Once in Sella Carnizza you will find the Stavoli Gnizza where you can refresh yourself in the numerous refreshment points. Better to have tires with a few mm more and good brakes to face this area in safety and comfort.
