The Schlüsselburg barrage at water kilometer 236.6 is a dam with an associated hydroelectric power plant. It was built in the 1950s. The weir was built in 1956 and consists of two fields, each 40 meters wide. At the same time, a run-of-river power plant was built and has been in operation since 1956.
The hydroelectric power plant was originally operated by the PreußenElektra company, which was later absorbed into the EON Group. Through an exchange of shares with the Norwegian energy company Statkraft, the latter has been the owner and operator of the power plant since January 1, 2009.
