The Ploegsteert Forest (French: Bois de Ploegsteert or Bois de la Hutte et du Gheer) is a forest near the Belgian village of Ploegsteert in the municipality of Comines-Warneton. It is located north of the village center and is one of the largest contiguous forests in the area. The forest consists of two major parts. A western part, east of the road from Ploegsteert to Mesen (N365), is the Huttebos, named after the place name De Hutte. This part is located on the southern flank of the more than 60 meter high Rozenberg. The eastern part is partly on Ploegsteert territory and partly on Warneton territory. This part is called Gheerbos, after the hamlet of Gheer on the eastern edge of the forest. This forest is located south of the ridge, in the flat ground one and a half kilometers from the Leie. The forest contains numerous military cemeteries and remnants of the First World War. The avenues through the forest have names that refer to a street or district in London, which they got the name of the British soldiers stationed here. You can walk in the forest.
