Peat from the Fintlandsmoor was (about 1877-1881) in Torfloren about a 3 km long narrow gauge railway to the station Ocholt pulled by horses. A very nice leg you can drive here from the station Westerstede-Ocholt to the holiday area Karlshofer lake along.
Former horse-drawn tram from Ocholt to Karlshof The Fintland bog started to be peated as planned in 1877. The dried peat obtained was mainly taken from the Oldenburg State Railway. To transport the peat, the plant built an approx. 3 km long narrow-gauge railway to Westerstede-Ocholt station. The peat was transported from Fintlandsmoor to Ocholt station on a field railway, the carts of which were drawn by horses and were therefore called "horse-drawn tram" ".
Today there is a beautiful cycling and hiking trail along the old railway line.
