    When cycling around, you actually always stay close to the water, but you also often drive through beautiful forest sections. ATTENTION, especially in the eastern section, the bike path is sometimes narrow and winding and it is easy to overlook an oncoming person!

      The Zwischenahn Sea

      The Zwischenahner Meer is also known as the "Pearl of the Ammerland" - and rightly so. Embedded in a beautiful natural landscape, the third largest inland lake in Lower Saxony is a popular destination for guests from near and far. 550 hectares of lake area are also an Eldorado for water sports enthusiasts. Incidentally, the lake has a depth of up to 5.50 meters; underneath, however, there is usually a meter-thick layer of digested sludge.

      Our sea is ALWAYS there!

      The term "sea" is based on North German language - that's what it's called "North Sea" although in "normal" German usage it would have to be called "sea"!

      An ideal water sports area
      Water sports enthusiasts are happy about their attractive area, although motor boats are strictly forbidden on the lake. To sail on the lake, proof of a registration plaque is required, which in turn requires a fixed berth.

            The route is pleasant to drive. If this leads partly through the most wooded area, one catches a glimpse of the Zwischenahner Meer every now and then.
            Benches set up along the way invite you to take a break to just enjoy the beauty of nature.

                  The lake circuit around the Zwischenahner Meer is one of the most attractive hiking trails in northern Germany. The mostly gravel circuit is 12 kilometers long. A clear view of the Zwischenahner Meer, the third-largest inland body of water in Lower Saxony, is possible on many sections of the route. Numerous gastronomic establishments right on the way invite you to linger. The traditional restaurants "Spieker" and "Fehrkroog" are particularly well known.
