On May 14, 1999, it rained heavily for hours. Regardless of the rainfall, a farmer goes about his work in the Tellen area on the right bank of the Thur. When his gaze fell on the steep slope opposite, he was shocked: over a length of 60 meters, the slope sagged by two meters. Two hours later - it is now four meters - the fire brigade closes Haldenstrasse for safety reasons. (Thurgauer Zeitung, April 15, 2015; Georg Stelzner)
