The Alstertalmuseum Alsterverein in Torhaus Wellingsbüttel is only open on weekends.

The civic association Wellingsbüttel with its cultural community Torhaus has committed to the city of Hamburg to preserve the part of the gatehouse used by him and to fill the house with cultural life. Each year, about 35 to 45 events are offered, such as concerts of all kinds, poetry and author readings, exhibitions, lectures, seminars and courses, cinema screenings, trips to literary and historical sites and art tours. The Christmas market of artisans as well as a planned Easter market complete the offer.

The mansion is used as a senior residence. This includes a partial use as a public café with garden terrace and - in the basement - as a beauty and wellness farm.
