The Hannoverhaus is a refuge run by the German Alpine Club in the Ankogel group in the Hohe Tauern. The mountain hut is located at an altitude of 2,565 meters at the foot of the Ankogel and was newly built in 2012.
Modernly renovated refuge. Offers overnight accommodation, a large restaurant with modern interior and clean, modern toilets that you wouldn't expect at such a high altitude. Outdoor area with a fantastic view.
The Hannoverhaus is a hut belonging to the German Alpine Club, about a 15-minute walk below the mountain station of the Ankogelbahn. This is high mountain, i.e. there is still some snow in places at the end of July.
Even if it is warm down there, take a jacket and sturdy hiking boots with you to be on the safe side, as there is still some snow even in mid/late July. Hiking poles are recommended, as the rocks are rugged and the path from the mountain station to the "Hannoverhaus" is steep.
