    The Lock Keepers' Valley is an 8.5-kilometer-long cycle path along the Marne-Rhine Canal. It is dotted with 17 locks, now unused, which once allowed visitors to cross the threshold of the Vosges Mountains. They were replaced by the Arzviller boat lift. The small lock-keepers' houses with their pinkish plasterwork and the somewhat wild nature make the area particularly bucolic.

        Nice bike path along the old Rhine-Marne Canal with the Arzviller lock staircase. The lock is now out of order, as there is a faster ship connection with the Saint-Louis / Arzviller ship lift. But the bike path on the old canal is very nice and the old lock houses are well worth seeing.

            On the canal, which is no longer used today, there are some old lock houses, some of which are inhabited and some of which are rotting away. The road is definitely nice to drive.
