When leaving Anyang in this direction, if you branch left and follow this small section of the stream it will bring you eventually to what seems like a sizable road, however, it is in fact leading to a dead end. So traffic is light and of no concern to the cyclist. There are plenty of cafes and the odd restaurant down here but I recommend visiting after you have climbed up to the temple. The ascent does lull you into a false sense of security, beginning with mild 2-4% sections, it feels like it might be long and drawn out but towards the final 1km it pitches up almost suddenly to 8.5% average, so take care to save some energy. As you think you have neared the end where there appears to be a car park, the ever-narrowing road pitches round to the left and back on itself to deliver you to the foot of a ridiculously steep stone brick staircase.
