Güstrow Castle is a very impressive castle with a very special charm. It was rebuilt in its present form after a fire in 1558. The castle is not only beautiful from the outside, but also from the inside.
We visited this castle several times in the middle of November 2009 during a 5-day stay in Güstrow. We were fascinated and I think it can even compete with the Schwereiner Schloss. The Schwerin Castle is more splendid, was and is still a residence, but this is more compact, with the charm of imperfection. At one point you could see how it was built. Namely with fired brick, not sandstone. The plaster makes it look like this. In addition to the cathedral and the parish church, this castle is one of the striking points that characterize the cityscape of Güstrow.
