The Tangebeek or Strombeek is a stream in Belgium that belongs to the Scheldt basin.
This stream forms the border between Grimbergen and Vilvoorde from the Ring to the chapel in the Borgt. In the Borgt, after the Domain of Borcht, it dives under the canal Brussels-Scheldt through two pipes, to flow along the eastern bank of the canal through the Dorent-Nelebroek and flow into the Senne. Since the start-up of the Grimbergen sewage treatment plant in 2007, the quality of the water in the Tangebeek has improved significantly.
The Tangebeekbos is located along the Tangebeek.
In June 1839, heavy rain showers and a blockage of the pipes under the previously constructed road between Vilvoorde and Aalst caused a flood in the Grimberg hamlet of Borgt when the dike collapsed. The Sint-Donatus chapel in the Borgt on the Leopold Luypaertstraat is a reminder of this disaster, in which 74 people lost their lives.
