The Grote Molen is a historic polder mill built between 1603 and 1638. Later a pump was installed to pump water to the Zuiderzee. The mill has an octagonal structure with a thatched roof and a traditional Dutch wicker cross. This mill, located on the Zuiderdijk near Munnickaij and Schellinkhout, underwent a restoration in 1979.

Next to the mill is the polder's original pumping station, built in 1900 with a petrol engine-driven centrifugal pump. During the Second World War the pumping station was seriously damaged by fire. In 1946 it was electrified. Since 2003, it has functioned as an emergency and auxiliary pumping station for the western part of the Schellinkhout polder, where the water is pumped into the Markermeer via the windmill. Together, these locations form a fascinating piece of Dutch water history.

The Grote Molen is a polder mill built between 1603 and 1638, which was later fitted with a mortar and pumped water into the Zuiderzee. The mill is a thatched octagonal mill of the type groundsheet with an old Dutch wick cross.

The hood of the mill is equipped with a barrow with wooden rollers, which is seasoned inside.

The mill is equipped with a Flemish catch.

The mill is located on the Zuiderdijk on the eastern edge of the hamlet of Munnickaij, on the border with Schellinkhout and has been restored since 1979.

Next to the mill is the original, beautifully designed pumping station of the polder, which was built in 1900 as an auxiliary pumping station with a centrifugal pump, powered by a petrol engine.

In the Second World War, the pumping station was fired with everything that was combustible, including carbolineum. The engine did not survive, so the pumping station was electrified in 1946. Since 2003, it has been used as emergency and auxiliary dewatering for the low, western part of the Schellinkhout polder and, like the windmill, grinds out via the windmill on the Markermeer.
