The fountain is located in a niche on the facade of the old town hall at the passage from the Naschmarkt to the market
The original bronze sculpture was created in 1909 by the Leipzig sculptor Johannes Hartmann. She showed a naked girl half kneeling on a stump with both hands on her hips.
In October 1992 the original plastic was stolen.
On December 2, 2000, a bronze sculpture, reconstructed from photographic originals, was replaced by Klaus Schwabe.

Ulrich Trampler served the British Queen tea in the Old Town Hall in 1992 - and suddenly she was standing in front of him in stockings.
For the Leipzig restaurateur, that Thursday almost 23 years ago was a high point in his professional life: he served Her Majesty tea in a private room. Trampler was first restaurant manager at the Hotel Astoria at the time. The Astoria was chosen to host the monarch in the Old Town Hall.
In the hinterland, a room was set up just for the Queen, her husband Prince Philip and two ladies-in-waiting. Ulrich Trampler was also ordered in there: with a pot of Darjeeling tea - it had to be golden yellow - made of Meissen porcelain and with a tiered stand full of petit fours.
He could hardly believe his eyes when he saw: "She came down from the balcony, pushed her pumps off her feet and stood in front of me in stockings. So human.” Prince Philip, noticing the waiter’s astonishment, explained in perfect German: “Her Majesty’s feet hurt.”
