Lichtenfels is located in the so-called Garden of God on the Upper Main in Upper Franconia. The town was first mentioned in documents in 1142. The town became famous through the basket trade in the 19th century. Lichtenfels is a stop on the Main Cycle Route and offers a good infrastructure as well as some cultural highlights. Banz Monastery, Staffelberg and the Vierzehnheiligen Basilica are not far from the city gates.

Lichtenfels is a German wicker town and famous for its wickerwork, which is still a living tradition today.

Here at the market square you will find numerous cafes and restaurants. A perfect place to replenish the energy storage and take a break. Numerous bike trails, such as the Main Bike Path or local bike tours, pass this place. So: schedule time to enjoy the city of Lichtenfels with its flair.

Town, but cozy and always something going on. Good restaurants, cafes and ice cream parlors, especially the Eiscafe Dolomiti in the Bahnhofstraße. Lichtenfels is also famous for its wicker products, and every year in September the wicker market takes place.
