A gorgeous bay on the west shores of Derwentwater, at the widest part where the lake measures 1.1 mile (1.7 km).

You'll find that the west shores are much quieter if you'd like to find a secluded place for a wild swim. If you're really keen, try the length of the lake from north to south which measures 2.9 miles (4.7 km).

Due to the amount of boat traffic on the lake, for safety it is recommended that you use a chill swim float to be easily seen by boat crews and from the launches.

If you're visiting by bike, remember that there are a lot of footpaths around Derwentwater, so it's likely that you'll need to dismount and push your bike to the water's edge.
