The registry office of the town of Wegberg is also located in the premises of the former monastery. Many couples exchange vows here and take beautiful photos on the outside staircase in the inner courtyard after the wedding ceremony.

A monastery is first mentioned in 1744, the priors of the monastery are mostly the pastors of Wegberg. The last Kreuzherr was Prior Jakob Hoogen, who became known as an enlightener, educator and writer on the Lower Rhine. The Kreuzherrenorden had several branches in the vicinity, such as Hohenbusch Abbey, Wickrath and Roermond. The Carmelites had been in the monastery since 1956. The Fathers have been active as pastors, chaplains and religion teachers.
The monastery is a three-story, three-winged brick building. The courtyard is closed off from the street by a high wall with a portal. The monastery garden used to be on the town hall forecourt. The monastery building was renovated due to war damage and largely changed with new window openings. The monastery was provided with hipped roofs. The door jambs and portal are in bluestone with a gable-like frame.
