The Dümmert Island in the city center, with its stately trees, is part of the inner-city park area between the old town and the poplar forest. Behind the town hall, you'll find ecologically valuable biotope structures such as small bodies of water and natural forest areas. These areas are particularly suitable for recreational use. The third section of the Ems River Park is located north of the Ems River. Several larger ponds and pools are surrounded by large pastures.
In addition to its diverse natural landscape, the Ems River Park also offers two interesting archaeological sites: the "Napoleon Hill" is the remains of an unfinished bridge over the Ems River from the early 19th century. The "Motte" is a fragment of the ground of a medieval fortification.
Also worth seeing are the old Telgte Way of the Cross, which runs north of the park, and a burial mound reconstructed in 2004, which indicates Bronze Age settlement along the Ems River.
