The 251-hectare Zengermoos Nature Reserve is located in the Erdinger Moos, southeast of Hallbergmoos and north of the B 388 highway on the district border, just before the village of Zengermoos. It lies almost entirely within the municipality of Moosinning (Erding district).
It is one of the largest contiguous birch forest ecosystems in Bavaria. The undisturbed moorland forest development occurred on peat-extracted limestone fens. In some areas, there are transitions to birch-oak-hornbeam wetland. In the southern part, there are still several spruce monocultures dating back to the time before it was declared a protected area in 2002. The forest is still open to use. In the southeast, there is a 150 m² forestry and hunting lodge, built in the late 1990s in place of several small illegal structures.
