Hiking trail: Howieker Watermill
On a narrow path you pass the trolley station (with rest area) and come through a small forest area, past the "Howieker Inhanger" rest area, to the Howieker Watermill. The Howieker Watermill was built in 1608 and there are many interesting stories about it. Continuing on a beautiful, narrow path you go along the "Karlshofer Straße", which is still partly paved with the original clinker bricks, to the "Karlshof" bathing lake. If you like, you can take a refreshing swim here. From the bathing lake we continue walking along the path of the former "horse-drawn railway". In earlier years, peat was transported from the Fintlandsmoor to the train station in Ocholt using lorries. And since these wagons were still pulled by horses in the early years of the last century, this path is still called the "horse-drawn railway" to this day. Past the fire station and behind the school, we return to our starting point, the train station.
