Already in the 15th century there was a moated castle "Haus Beck". The present building was built 1766-1771, the most famous Westphalian Baroque master builder Johann Conrad Schlaun as pleasure palace (Maison de Plaisance) for Friedrich Florenz Raban von der Wenge.
At the end of the 18th century, a liquor factory was operated on the estate. From 1850 it belonged to the family Metternich. In 1958 the mining company Hibernia bought the area with the castle building.
In 1966 Karl Kuchenbäcker acquired the heavily dilapidated castle and started to build a family leisure park, among other things to cover the costs of the restoration. After old plans, since then, all the buildings and the portal at the entrance have been restored to their original state.
Today, the castle is one of the most beautiful preserved late Baroque monuments in Westphalia and is a listed building.
Since Karl Kuchenbäckers death on December 28, 2004 lead his wife Renate and his daughters Karla Kuchenbäcker and Katharina Graveland-Kuchenbäcker as the management of the amusement park Schloss Beck GmbH, the castle and the park.
