The women's convent has existed since the 12th century, and its heyday was in the 16th century. After being closed and used as a children's home, the Hermetschwil Monastery was raised to an abbey again in 1985. Nine sisters still live in the monastery today and sell products from their own production (candles, honey, tea, ...) in a small shop. You can find all information about visiting the facility at bremgarten.ch/kloster.
The Benedictine monastery of St. Martin was founded in 1082. Today it is certainly one of the most impressive cultural sites in Freiamt. The location directly on the Reuss is very harmonious, and the gardens are also worth a visit. The monastery also has a monastery shop with its own products such as honey, monastery pastries, jams and tea.
