    The Belvedere Weesenstein, also known as the hunting pavilion, was a Belvedere on a hill above the Müglitz valley in the hallway of the Meusegast district in the Müglitztal municipality.       The Belvedere Weesenstein, also known as the hunting pavilion, was a belvedere on a hill above the Müglitz valley in the Meusegast district of the Müglitztal municipality. The building, erected in the mid-18th century, served as a vantage point at Weesenstein Castle and was demolished in 1951.
      The Lords of Bünau had the Belvedere built above the Weesenstein English Park around 1750. The builder and master carpenter from Saxony, Johann Andreas Hünigen, may have been the executor.[2] At the end of the Second World War, the pavilion was used to accommodate resettlers. At times three families lived in the unsuitable building. In the fall of 1945, two brick chimneys were added to the long sides to heat the rooms in winter. In the course of the GDR land reform, the Weesensteiner Belvedere was demolished in 1951 despite protests from the population....

            ...One wanted to get building material for a new farm in the post-war period. However, the building material was unsuitable for reuse. By 1970 the mountain of rubble had been removed. Also in the time of the land reform, the valuable ornamental trees of the baroque park were felled and used as fuel and heating material. With the demolition of the Belvedere, the structural completion of the park is now missing and so the entire complex was reduced. Only the foundation walls were preserved; a notice board describes the fate of the building.

                The small Belvedere Palace is easy to imagine based on the remaining stones and the information board. How nice it would have been if those responsible/politicians had listened to the population... Visions and dreams are certainly not always up to date, but later they have often shown that they are correct

                  A romantic path leads through the wooded eastern slope of the Müglitztal into the "disappeared" English Park, up to the foundations of the Belvedere, a once-impressive hunting pavilion from the Baroque period. Around 1780, the Weesensteiner rulers were considered pioneers in Saxony with the design of such a garden. Today, however, nature and post-war influences have blurred most of the references to the former English garden. On the way to the "disappeared" park, attentive observers will discover small sandstone bridges, simple benches and vantage points of the castle and the surrounding area.
