The nature reserve "Wide Water" has the shape of a triangle and is also known as the "wet triangle" because of the many streams and lakes. The area is home to many birds that you can watch with a little patience. In the nature reserve there is also the lake of the same name, Broad Water.
The Breite Wasser is a small lake in the Teufelsmoor, which has been preserved after regulation of the Hamme as old water. The water flows in the wide water so slowly that it is increasingly silted up. As part of the GR project "Hammeiederung", more than 7,000 tonnes of sludge were dredged out of the water and its side arms in autumn 2008 and transported to sand pits near Wallhöfen.
