The Brocken is an interesting destination for many sports, including runners. Great sporting events where the running route goes over the Brocken include the Brocken Run in Ilsenburg (always at the beginning of September, around 26 kilometers) and the marathon route of the Harz Mountain Run in Wernigerode (always in October).

A run up to the Brocken is worthwhile from all directions, particularly beautiful via the Glashüttenweg or the Goetheweg. The summit presents itself anew every time, from great views to snow and dense fog, you can experience everything here. Be sure to try the small detour on the Brocken circular path, you will be rewarded with many beautiful views.

There parking places in Schierke, from there you easily do hiking or running to Brocken.
On top of the mountain, there is a good restaurant (only cash is accepted).
