The castle stands on a cliff directly on the Gardasee and is accessible only by a single door the "Siresina". The castle consists of 3 different levels, reachable by drop bridges and special stairs. From the third courtyard you can admire the 31 meter high Berchfrit. At the top of the mountain ridge there is an extraordinary observation station where you can admire the wonderful panorama of the lake.
At present, you can also find the museum of natural history in this castle. It is divided into two sections: Lake Garda and Monte Baldo.
