But it used to be different here! There was a huge stock of trees, mostly oak trees - and you can find them again in Hamburg now... the entire warehouse district was built on these oak piles. Hence the great foresight today.

The Wilseder mountain near Wilsede is 169.2 m above sea level. NN the highest elevation in the Lüneburg Heath .. The Wilseder mountain is located within the nature reserve Lüneburg Heath in the Lüneburg Heath and is located near Wilsede and Bispingen in the district Heidekreis. The survey was made during the penultimate ice age, the Saale ice age; it is part of a terminal moraine. The mountain has a broad plateau and a flat summit. At the edges it is very varied with hollows, valleys and small ravines.

The soils of the area consist of washed-out, gritty-sandy soils with Ortsteinschichten. On it are open sandy areas, large heath areas and extensive coniferous forests. The heathland is grazed by Heidschnucken.

Nice view of the surrounding area and with good visibility as far as Hamburg. In summer there are a lot of people up on the mountain at 169 m. You won't have any peace and quiet here.

Anyone who says it's easy for them to get up here should think about how old and trained they are.
Not easy for inexperienced/older cyclists or those with luggage.

The access road is not easy to drive in dry conditions. Loose, partly sandy ground, just heathland. At the foot of the Wilseder Berg there are numerous paths with bad cobblestones.
