The special basket arch form, developed at that time by Johann Wilhelm Schwedler (Schwedler bearer) with the aim of having to absorb only tensile forces in the diagonal and therefore to be able to carry out very filigree, wide-ranging iron bridges. The classic station roofs, e.g. in Frankfurt / Main and Berlin-Ostbahnhof, the roofs of the Rundlokschuppen and gasometer roofs were designed by him according to this principle.
