In 1936, the then community of Westick received the sum of 100,000 Reichsmarks from Harpener mining AG as compensation for the obligation to pay poor people's allowance that had been entered into when Sections V-VIII of the Kaiserau colliery colony was established. With part of this sum, the community built a youth home for the Hitler Youth, which was built between 1938 and 1941 and inaugurated on July 20, 1941. After the end of the war, the community initially leased the home to the German Federation of Trade Unions on a long-term basis. In 1948, the home was transferred to the Westphalia Football Association through lease transfer and purchase agreements with areas of approximately 18 acres including the community sports field. With the purchase proceeds, the community built a new sports field with standing stands and an outdoor swimming pool in the immediate vicinity of the site.
Initially, the association only had a conference and dining room as well as sleeping accommodation for 40 people in the structurally almost unchanged former Hitler Youth home
