      The Einfelder See is located in the north of Neumünster between the Einfeld district and the village of Mühbrook. It was formed as a subglacial drainage valley during the Vistula Ice Age. Since there are no tributaries to the lake worth mentioning, it is fed by groundwater and precipitation. It owes its scenic charm to the border location between the natural areas of the Eastern Hill Country and the Holstein Vorgeest.

      While the beginnings of the varied landscape of the eastern hill country can be seen when looking towards the northeast, the flat plain of the Vorgeest extends to the south. A larger forest in the west of the lake, the Bondenholz, and the Kistenmoor in the east enrich the area with additional scenic elements. Part of the western bank is protected. The protection goal is to create an undisturbed reserve for bird life on the lake, which is heavily used as a local recreation and water sports area.

                            Einfelder See is an attractive destination for all water sports enthusiasts at any time of year. In order to achieve a balance between nature conservation and water sports, the city of Neumünster has issued a regulation. The nature reserve on the west bank of Einfelder See is a small, but ecologically highly interesting shore zone of the lake, the purpose of which is primarily to preserve this structurally and species-rich habitat and its diverse bird life.

                            On the south-eastern bank, the areas of the Neumünster water sports clubs and the district sports fishing association are located in close proximity. These sports clubs have one thing in common, namely their efforts and achievements in popular sports and very good youth work.

                            Coming from the beach at the Schanze, after the guard station of the German Life Saving Association (DLRG), you first come to the water sports center of the schools. Courses and working groups (working groups) are held here, among other things.
