The church Skt. Hans (Johannis) church in Stege got its present form in the 15th century.
In front of today's church there was a romantic church here as early as the 13th century.

Pilgrims can light a candle here and write a prayer. There are two organs. One is at the bottom, and in 2020 the Bosch organ on the ampore was added. The "new" organ (at this location) is the one above. In addition, the nave "Justitia" stands out. A Norwegian sailor gave the model to the church in 1718. He took part in the naval battle off Rügen (1715, the Danish fleet defeated the Swedes). There were many casualties and he probably built the ship in thanks for his survival (three years) and then gave it to the church. An association maintains the nave. Every 10 years it is removed, restored (if necessary) and hung back in place during a special ceremony.

The Skt. Hans Church in Stege has a long and interesting building history.
A two-aisled brick church was built with a narrow choir and semicircular backsides in the east.
The paintings in the choir are by the painter Kaj Louis-Jensen and painted in 1935.
The church has a number of tombstones, of which only three epitaphs and six tombstones are kept in the church.
