Halfway through the 19th century (industrial changes) a railway connection between Ypres and Roeselare 'Spoorlijn 64' was built. There were stops in Zonnebeke and between Moorslede and Passchendaele. During the First World War it was used for supplying troops and equipment. For the Australians it was their 'Road to Passchendaele', it was the only road that was slightly accessible in the muddy landscape. After the war, the railway was the best and fastest way to reach the devastated region.

The route of the railway was redeveloped as a green recreational axis between Ypres and Roeselare. On this bed you can relax in an eventful way on foot, on horseback or by bicycle. From the Memorial Museum Passchendaele, this route is the best walking connection to CWGC Tyne Cot Cemetery and Passchendaele.

The Strolijn in Passendale is a former railway line, known as Spoorlijn 64, which ran between Ypres and Roeselare.
