The Fukuoka Dome is a ballpark and the home ground of the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks. The ballpark was opened in 1993 and was the first stadium in Japan with a closable roof.
The Fukuoka Dome, built in 1993, is easily recognizable thanks to its spectacular roof. International concerts of international stars take place regularly in this gigantic hall. Michael Jackson even performed there four times during his solo career. In 2005, he was named Yahoo! in Fukuoka Yahoo! JAPAN DOME renamed by Yahoo! Japan acquired the naming rights for the stadium. Nevertheless, it has kept its soul as a huge baseball stadium.
