This square at the crossroads of six streets is the busiest in Dieppe. The name refers to an old brackish water well, which was replaced by a fountain in the 16th century, the end point of one of the oldest water supply systems in the country. The current fountain is purely for display purposes. A striking feature is the large white pediment of the Café des Tribunaux, the former Cabaret de l'Horloge (with a watch, a clock from 1709). This early 18th century building was renovated in the early 20th century. The former Admiralty building (also early 18th century) now houses a pastry shop. (The green travel guide)
