This largely abandoned place presents itself with dilapidated charm. It has a checkered history as a manor, manor, manor house and then as a castle. Later it was used as a hotel, hospital and university institute. Now the site is a backdrop for occasional events and filming.

The Marquardt Castle Park is picturesquely situated on the Schlänitzsee and was laid out in 1795 in the style of an English landscape park and reworked in 1823 according to drawings by Peter Joseph Lenné for the von Bischoffwerder family. The area measures around 14 hectares. Winding paths, old stock of trees, surprising views of the castle, the manor house or the Schlänitzsee, artificially created watercourses and ponds, hilly grassy areas that gently slope towards the water make a walk an entertaining pleasure. The line of sight from the empty castle along old plane trees to the lake has remained open to this day. The estate ensemble with the manager's house, master distiller's house and water tower has also been preserved. The park is open to the public and admission is free. A bathing area invites you to swim in the summer months.

The poet Theodor Fontane dedicated a separate chapter to the town of Marquardt in his "Wanderungen durch die Mark Brandenburg". In it he describes the originally Old Wendish village as "just as attractive for its location as for its history".

The castle is not freely accessible. It serves as a venue for company celebrations, conferences, weddings and birthdays and, together with the park, is a popular location for film productions.
