On the left bank of the Rhine rises the castle Rheinfels over St. Goar. She belonged to the sex of the Counts of Katzenelnbogen. In the preserved building complex there is today an economy with hotel. Much of her is ruin and can be visited. A visit is very worthwhile. It promises great views of the keep and the ring wall, leads into the underground mines and the largest cantilever vaulted cellar in Europe.
