This year, 2019, the new planetarium Ursensollen is to be inaugurated. Up to 32 people will be able to enjoy films in 3D technology on the 6.60 meter dome made of perforated aluminum sheet without reflections. The images of the own observatory can be transmitted live via fiber optic cable to the planetarium. Originally the "Amberger Volks-Sternwarte" of the Förderverein was based on the so-called "Panzerplatte" in the former training ground Amberg-Fuchsstein. But the lights of the nearby city affected the night view into space and it lacked electricity and water connections, so that in 2006 moved to Ursensollen. At first, a double container was the home for the large telescopes. Now the next step with the construction of the planetarium with a total cost of 2.2 million euros.
