Very beautiful baroque castle in the midst of the profane buildings of Fulda. You can visit the magnificent former residence of the Fulda prince abbots and prince bishops, as some parts of the palace have been reconstructed as historical rooms. The city administration of Fulda resides in other parts of the complex.

The city palace, with its preserved historical rooms, offers insights into the princely living culture of the Baroque and Classicism periods. Its predecessors were an abbot's castle (around 1300) and a four-wing Renaissance palace built between 1607 and 1612, which was redesigned from 1706 to 1721 according to plans by Johannes Dientzenhofer and served as the Baroque residence of the prince-abbots and prince-bishops of Fulda.

A real eye-catcher awaits visitors in the renovated castle courtyard in Fulda: a statue in the middle of the renovated castle courtyard is the new eye-catcher. It shows the legendary rider and his horse. The bronze sculpture comes from the sculptor Valerie Otte from Berlin. The rider deliberately stands at ground level next to his horse. The viewer should be able to imagine what it might have been like back then.
