Froidhier is located on the RAVel cycle path.
The small village of Froidthier used to have a railway connection and the cloth factory of Mathieu SNOECK's family, which employed numerous workers, ensured a certain wealth for the village.

A severe fire destroyed the factory in 1888, forcing the workers to move to the Verviers region.
Today, Froidthier is the greenest part of the municipality of Thimister-Clermont and a popular destination for hikers, especially its hamlets of Corbillon, Winandchamps, Les Trixhes, Bruyères and Chaumont. This name (Chaumont - "chaud" means "hot") is an interesting contrast to the name of the village (Froidthier - "froid" means "cold").
