Unfortunately, the museum is only open on Sunday afternoons, but you can at least peek through the windows into the former cane-making workshop. There's also an information board outside the door.

The church is open on weekends from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is definitely worth a visit. During this time, it is lovingly cared for by an association founded specifically for the church. A visit to the church can therefore sometimes result in a 45-minute private tour of the church's entire history. Yes, the people of Wahlhausen are apparently very proud of their church – just as the people of Hanstein were, who founded this church directly next to one of their manor houses. With the founding of the GDR, the people of Hanstein were forced to give up their possessions and were disenfranchised. The famous racing driver Fritz Huschke von Hanstein managed to emigrate to the West. His parents owned the Unterhof farm in Wahlhausen. From then on, they could only observe the manor church founded by their ancestors from a distance. The fact that the church shines in such good condition today is due to the fact that Fritz Huschke von Hanstein is not only buried in Wahlhausen, but also, upon his death, asked that donations for the manor church be made instead of wreaths at the grave. The rich interior furnishings, and especially the paintings along the gallery, are a feast for the eyes today. In the separate gallery for the Hanstein residents, there is also a display case containing the trophies and medals won by Fritz Huschke von Hanstein.

The Margaretenkirche was built in 1718 as the manor church of the Hansteiners. Due to the need for repairs to the church, especially to the roof, tower and windows, a final service took place in the fall of 1976. The two church bells from 1355 and 1422 were taken from the tower, which was in danger of collapsing, and hung in a free-standing bell tower in the parish garden. To complete the ringing, a third bell was cast. Since 1986, renovation has been carried out by the GDR's Monument Preservation Office. The church initially stood empty before it was re-consecrated in 1992.

In order to document the development of the unique craft of stick making and to show the work steps required to make the traditional "walking stick", a small stick making museum was set up in a former workshop in 1980 and was gradually expanded. Documents and pictures, tools, historical and new sticks give the visitor a clear picture of the history and working methods of the craft branch, which is still flourishing today. The members of the local history association of the stockmaker village of Lindewerra look after the museum. Opening hours: April 1st to October 31st: Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m Visits outside of these times are possible all year round by prior arrangement. Information and contacts can be found at www.lindewerra.de

Very beautiful and well-kept church, which you should definitely take a look at from the inside. Next to the church you can take a nice rest and relax with a view of the Werra.
