Villeneuve sur Yonne is a charming town in the Yonne department, in Burgundy. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside and has several lakes and ponds which offer picturesque views and opportunities for fishing, boating and bird watching. Hiking in Villeneuve sur Yonne is a great way to explore the area's natural and historical attractions, such as the medieval walls, Gothic church and Renaissance town hall.

At the top of the hill of Villecien is a magnificent castle hidden among the trees and its high walls. The chateau was recently the home of famed cookbook writer Anne Willan, but after she retired to California in 2017, the chateau was sold.

Built in 1845, this suspension bridge is worth a detour. If you go down the east bank of the Yonne on the south bank to this place, you can admire the suspension bridge in all its glory.
