Wonderful viewpoint. The highest point of our long-distance hike from Tarifa to Switzerland.

On the heights of Villefranche-de-Conflent and with Fort Liberia in the foreground, you can marvel at the panoramic views with the peaks, valleys and villages stretching out before you.

Sublime viewpoint over the Conflent and the Canigó massif. Towards the south, it is the high erosion surfaces which crown the village of Mantet which are revealed and tell a recent geological history: that of the flattening of the first Pyrenees and the regional uplift which brings a vast plain to altitude. Today, only scraps of plain remain dissected by the valleys: the plas de Campmagre at Pla Guillem.

It is a very beautiful climb on a road in a precarious state, especially in the final part of the climb. In addition to exceeding 2000 meters of altitude, the climb is attractive because you cross a practice area of the French army, coming across 2 or 3 abandoned tanks. The views from the top are beautiful, but you have to walk a distance on foot from the end of the road. It is also common to come across deer and other animals since the road is rarely traveled by cars.

This pedestrian pass allows hikers to switch from the Carança valley to the Riberola valley. It peaks at 2,367 meters and forms the junction between two magnificent peaks: Puigs Rodon to the south, and Gallinàs to the north.
