On August 27, 2002, the eve of Johann Wolfgang Goethe's 251st birthday, the Goethe Garden House 2 was opened overlooking the Toskana Therme spa in Bad Sulza. The Goethe Garden House 2 is an exact replica of the original garden house in Weimar. It was built in 1999 (Weimar's City of Culture Year) in the Park an der Ilm to preserve the original.
