The pond was first documented in 1563. On the bank was a watermill. It is believed that for their purpose the pond was artificially created. Until 1835, Müller Beeker used the pond as a water reservoir. He then sold his rights for 800 dollars to the factory owners Böckelmann and Köhne. They took the latch water and led this to a well on their factory yard. In the 1930s, a piping of the pawl and the opening here in the pawl coming from the garden Ottersleben source digging took place. Later, the mill was shut down. The factory was also abandoned in the 1930s / 1940s. However, the demolition of the vacant mill building was not until the 1970s. In this decade, there were also plans to transform the Ottersleber pond to the outdoor pool. For this purpose, an enlargement of the pond was intended. With the deforestation of some old pastures even began the construction work, but were then set back. The pond was later used as a breeding pond for carp and today serves as angling waters.
